Overview
SUMMARY Receives, stores, and distributes material, and products by performing the following duties. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
RESPONSIBILITIES MAY VARY BY LOCATION: Job duties may vary based on business needs but may result in generating, handling, and/or inspection of hazardous waste and hazardous waste storage. This can include responding or managing hazardous waste spills and incidents based on the sites emergency action or contingency plan. These duties include preparing and managing hazardous waste records such as manifests, inspection logs, waste determination and other reports.
Loads and unloads dry vans and tank trucks. Verifies incoming shipments and checks for damage. Reads production orders to determine items to be drummed.
Drums materials off in-bound bulk shipments and fills totes. Responsible for washing and labeling drums and repacking of liquid materials. Conveys materials and items from receiving or production areas to storage or to other designated areas.
Assembles customer orders from stock and places orders on pallets and conveys orders to staging areas. Responsible for checking paperwork, placard and container markings and processing picking tickets. Drives forklift to transport stored items from warehouse to plant or to pick up items from several locations for shipment.
Responsible for warehouse and yard maintenance. Inspects forklift trucks daily. Handles inbound and outbound freight via common carrier or inter branch trucks.
Inspects customer pickup vehicles and certifies that DOT regulations have been met. Assists in the production area when needed. Ensures all shipments are properly secured per DOT requirements prior to leaving the facility.
Ensures all customer requirements are met for deliveries including stenciling of customer codes on packages, COA’s, MSDS, etc. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES None QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent combination of education and experience; and one to three years related experience and/or training. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtracts, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS Ability to operate a forklift truck. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move more than 100 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and maybe occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibration.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate with occasional loud noise.
